The band insist the song is about ugly people in the good sense of the expression – in fact they are no more than normal people.

I´M A PREGNANT MAN!! (B1)

 thomasbeatiemain_458903a.jpg

A BLOKE with a beard sent shockwaves round the world yesterday when he announced: “I’m PREGNANT.”

Thomas Beatie, 34, released this astonishing photo showing his swollen belly — and said it felt “incredible” to be a pregnant man.

He revealed he is due to give birth on July 3.

Before ... Thomas as Tracy

Before … Thomas as Tracy

And he told how he was fertilised using donor sperm because his WIFE Nancy cannot have children.

American Thomas — a transsexual who was actually born female — admitted that his amazing pregnancy would create “legal, political and social unknowns”.

But in a real-life echo of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1994 film Junior, Thomas vowed to carry on living as a man even while his baby bump is growing.

He added: “I will be my daughter’s father, and Nancy will be her mother. We will be a family.”

Thomas is legally a man after undergoing a sex change, even though he kept his female reproductive organs.

He and his wife were desperate to start a family after ten years together, but Nancy, 45, had had a hysterectomy after health problems 20 years ago.

Nurses wearing trousers at the San Rafael clinic will see a 30 Euro deduction from their monthly wages
Nurses in Cádiz in Spain have been told that they have to wear a skirt if they want to earn a full wage. Those at the San Rafael Clinic who choose to wear nurses trousers instead will lose a 30 € productivity bonus every month.

Now the regional government, the Junta de Andalucía, has promised an investigation into a possible breaking of equality legislation, and the nurses and other workers at the clinic, owned by the Pascual company, are also threatening to denounce the company.

The regional councillor for welfare and equality, Micaela Navarro, said it was ‘absolutely degrading’ that the nurses were being obliged to wear skirts, and said that it went against not only equality legislation but also common sense. One of the nurses affected said it was ‘a matter of personal and professional dignity’.

The Pascual company claims that nurses have worn a uniform of a skirt for the past 30 years, and they are in their right to deduct the 30 € a month from those members of staff who fail to meet the uniform requirements.

I CAN´T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING IN THE 21st CENTURY? WHAT ARE YOUR FEELINGS ABOUT IT?

CAN YOU THINK OF OTHER JOBS WHERE IT´S COMPULSORY FOR WOMEN TO WEAR SKIRTS?

TODAY MARKS THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING!! (B1)

The first day of spring this year is March 20th and the equinox will be at 11:48 pm, according to the experts.

In general, the four seasons correspond to the relative position of the Sun to the earth.

Meteorological determination of Spring is calculated when the Sun passes through the equatorial plane. When going from Winter to Spring, the Sun is moving North, and as soon as the Sun crosses the equator, we call it Spring.

The date (near March 21 in the northern hemisphere) when night and day are nearly the same length and Sun crosses the celestial equator (i.e., declination 0) moving northward.

The vernal equinox marks the first day of the season of spring. The right ascension at the vernal equinox originally was in the constellation Aries and the point of crossing was known as the first point in Aries (now actually in Pisces because of precession )

The Vernal Equinox is one of the four great seasonal changes every year. Day and night are equal, and the changing weather can lift the spirits of young — and old — alike!

Don’t miss this opportunity to have some fun !

LISTEN TO THIS SONG CALLED “THE FIRST DAY OF SPRING”. WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT IT?

760 fallas, some of a political nature, were all set to be burnt to the ground last night
The Fallas fiestas in Valencia reached  their dramatic and noisy climax last night with the ‘crema’ when all the paper-mache statues, which have taken a year to build, were burnt to the ground in a matter of seconds. Last Tuesday it was a massive firework display which marked Tuesday as the ‘Nit del Foc‘, or the Night of Fire.

760 fallas turned to ashes in the fiesta this year, and even search engine Google has adapted its logo in Spain this year to celebrate the fiesta. The image on the Google search engine in Spain today

THE PORTRAIT OF A HAPPY SPANIARD (B1)

The author of the report, Eduardo Punset. Photo – EFE.

Under 35 with a partner and one or two children
The profile of a happy Spaniard is someone who lives either in Aragón, Cataluña, Navarra or Extremadura, is married or with a stable partner, and is between the ages of 26 and 35. They will also have one or two children, EFE reports.

This ‘portrait of happiness’ in Spain comes from a survey of 3,000 people carried out by Coca-Cola, presented by the company’s President, Marcos de Quinto, and its author, Eduardo Punset, on Tuesday. The main ingredients for a happy life are health – put top by both men and women, followed by love then money for women, and the reverse for men. 59% of women said they were very happy, dropping down to 41% for the men. Only 5% of those who said they were very happy live alone, and eight out of ten have a partner.

Eduardo Punset concludes that being happy does not depend on income, from the result that Spaniards from one of the poorest regions, Extremadura, are amongst the happiest, and one of the richest, Madrid, comes out below average on the happy-ometer.

Some of the pastimes which the survey showed make Spaniards very happy include listening to music, visiting the cinema or the theatre, with other particular pleasures put down as shopping, birthday or Christmas celebrations, or sleeping a siesta.

ARE YOU ONE OF THOSE HAPPY LUCKY ONES?

HAPPY FATHER´S DAY!!

TOMORROW´S FATHER´S DAY,  ANOTHER REASON TO CELEBRATE THIS WEEK!.I DON´T KNOW IF I´LL SURVIVE…..

DID YOU KNOW THAT FATHER´S DAY IS CELEBRATED ON A DIFFERENT DATE IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE WORLD?

Father’s day is celebrated on the 19th of March in Spain. It falls on St. Joseph’s day since the Catholic Church holds a significant influence on its culture. In some parts of Spain, like Valencia, there’s a grand celebration on St. Joseph’s day and it is called “Las Fallas.” There can’t be a better occasion than Father’s Day to show your gratitude and love to fathers in all possible ways. Following are the steps to celebrate father’s day in Spain.

ARE MEN HARD TO SHOP FOR?

NOW THAT THE SHAPE OF THE TRADITIONAL FAMILY IS CHANGING, DO YOU THINK WE SHOULD STICK TO THIS KIND OF CELEBRATIONS?

NOT EVERYBODY´S CELEBRATING! (B1)
