After several months of rumours, it has now been confirmed by Socialist Party sources that the ex Prime Minister, Felipe González, and his wife, Carmen Romero, are to separate.

The couple has been married for 40 years, but many think they have been effectively living separate lives for some years. It appears that there is no third party involved.

They have three children Pablo, David and María, and have always held their private life in great discretion.

HAVE YOU BEEN THINKING ABOUT ME? (B1+)

I’VE BEEN THINKING ABOUT YOU

WATCH THIS VIDEO FROM THE 80s AND LISTEN CAREFULLY TO THE CATCHY CHORUS.

WHAT TENSE IS THIS?

We must have been stone crazy

when we thought we were just friends,

‘Cause I miss you, baby,

And I’ve got those feelings again.

I guess I’m all confused about you,

I feel so in love

Oh, baby, what can I do?

I’ve been thinking about you.

I’ve been thinking about you

I’ve been thinking about you

I’ve been thinking about you, shi-pow-pow!

Suddenly we’re strangers,

I watch you walking away.

She was my one temptation,

Oh, I did not want her to stay

Deep down, I’m still confused about you

I feel so in love

Oh, baby, what can I do?

I’ve been thinking about you.

I’ve been thinking about you

I’ve been thinking about you

I’ve been thinking about you, shi-pow-pow!

What good is being her without you?

I feel so in love

Oh, baby, what can I do?

I’ve been thinking about you.

I’ve been thinking about you

I’ve been thinking about you

I’ve been thinking about you, shi-pow-pow!

INCREDIBLE RAFFLE (B1+)

Row breaks out as Valencia discothèque want to raffle a boob job as a prize

The poster for the disco promotion, called 'Pretty Woman'

The raffle is set to take place at the Patcha club in Valencia on December 5. The Ministry for Health in Spain, and the Valencia City Hall, have both said they will fine the Pacha discothèque in the city for raffling a cosmetic procedure to give one of the club’s clients larger breasts.

The raffle for the prize, worth 4,500 € takes place among those present in the club on December 5.

Minister for Health, Bernat Soria, has said his department has opened and investigation and disciplinary action against the club, adding that cosmetic surgery comes under his Ministry. He said he would be particular concerned if the advertising was aimed at those under 18.

Valencia regional government is investigating whether the publicity from the club is sexist, and regional health councillor, Loudes Bernel, voiced her ‘total indignation as a woman, and as being the person responsible for health, at this initiative which is frivolous with health’. She lamented the use that was being made of women by the club, demanded the raffle be cancelled and an apology be given.

The club manager, Carlos Monsell, says they will not cancel the boob job promotion as it is ‘nothing bad’ and not illegal.
‘I’m not the ETA terrorist Txeroki’, he added.

DREAMING OF SLEEP ? (B1+)

woman_sleeping

DO YOU TOSS AND TURN AT NIGHT?  OR  DO YOU SLEEP LIKE A LOG?

The sleep set is literally the foundation of your sleep. But beyond your investment in the mattress, it’s important to make an overall commitment to sleep. Here are some tips for maintaining a healthy sleep cycle and ensuring the best night’s rest:

  1. Maintain a regular bed and wake time schedule, including weekends.
  2. Establish a relaxing bedtime routine, such as soaking in a hot bath or hot tub and then reading a book or listening to soothing music.
  3. Create a sleep-conducive environment that is dark, quiet, comfortable and cool.
  4. Sleep on a comfortable mattress and pillow.
  5. Use your bedroom only for sleep and sex. It is best to take work materials, computers and televisions out of the sleeping environment.
  6. Finish eating at least two to three hours before your regular bedtime.
  7. Exercise regularly. It is ideal to complete your workout at least a few hours before bedtime.
  8. Avoid alcohol, nicotine (e.g., cigarettes, tobacco products), and caffeine (e.g., coffee, tea, soft drinks, chocolate) close to bedtime. These can lead to poor sleep, keep you awake or disrupt sleep later in the night.

OBAMA MAKES HISTORY! (B1+)

ZAPATERO WELCOMES OBAMA´S ELECTION.

El Mundo newspaper reports that it was an open secret in Madrid that Spanish Prime Minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, wanted Barack Obama to win the United States presidential election. The paper says that the Prime Minister had preferred not to reveal his preferences too soon.

The Spanish Government is convinced that we are now in a more open world, but understands that the United States will not change overnight. It thinks however that we will see more dialogue with the European Union, China and Russia.

Zapatero also shares ground with Obama on the matter of the Iraq war, the reason why Zapatero was never on the guest list of President Bush. Both leaders would like to think a diplomatic strategy would have been the one to follow.

Spain has troops already in Afghanistan and Zapatero is prepared to keep them there, and more so with Obama in power. Obama recognises the need for more troops there.

Zapatero is also reported to consider that the election of Obama will result in a jump in confidence around the world regarding the current financial crisis which is affecting everyone.

Spain joins the European Union in the belief that the Democratic victory will see more decision and commitment to the fight against climate change, cooperation with the Kioto protocol, and more resistance to the large polluting United States industries.

Spain also expects new policies favouring minorities and with a new attitude to Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.
