  2. Hi Carmen:

My name is María. I was born in Castellón, but I´m living in Valencia for twenty years. I came here to study Pharmacy sciences when I was eighteen. Later, I knew Javier and we decided to stay here, in Valencia.
We have two children: Javier and Paula, they are nine and seven years old.

I started to study English when I was at primary school, but I leaved it when I was at University, because I didn´t have free time enough. It´s a long time since I don´t study it. I remember any things of English grammar, but I have to do an effort to understand people talking to me in English language.

I hope to learn very much. By the moment, I´m satisfied with the classes.

    Dear Ana:

How are you? I hope you had a nice weekend.

I´m just writing you to tell you a few details about myself. I´m a librarian, but I´ve never worked in a library. At least, in a traditional library. My specialty is Internet and human computer interaction. I´m currently doing my PhD in this topic and I just returned from Madeira, where I’ve been making a stay in the university working on this.

I’m working in a research department of the University of Valencia for eleven years, and I love my work. Usually it´s very hard and stressful, but it´s very interesting for me.

In my free time I usually go to the cinema, theater, reading (I´m a librarian, so I love books) but my prefer activity is being with my friends, and go out to dinner or travel. Two years ago I went to London for first time and until this moment this is my favorite city on the world. I visited the most famous places in the city, like the Big Ben or the London Eye, and others more important for me like “The globe”, the Shakespeare´s theatre, or the British Library.

Well, that´s all, for this moment.

I hope to hear from you soon.

    Best regards,

    Carolina.

  7. Hello, Carmen! I’m Olga Popova (1B2).
I missed a lesson, when you did the test.
So I’d like to ask you, if it’s possible, to do this test at another time. For example, when you have a lesson with the another group, I could come in and do the written part of the test.
Tell me please, if it’s possible.
    Sorry for troubling.

Hello companions and you Carmen, I’m Joan (1B2… I guess) :

Is the name of Joan helping or hurting me?

I guess this name haven’t got any problem here, in València (or Catalunya and Illes Balears). But in other area of this wonderful country, nowadays, maybe is a tabu, a sort of dangerous word that sign a guy that is not a fellow.
Also, most of the time, I can know the ideology of people if they say: ”chuan” or “juan” when they see my written name and call me just like that. So, it’s pretty useful.
To finish I want to say that is a old name used by many people, common and powerful, nowadays and last centuries. It’s a rife name of this great land.

    c u soon
