MEDIATION FOR 2B1 STUDENTS (2B1)

IF YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT MEDIATION IS, THIS VIDEO IN SPANISH COULD HELP YOU (EOI ARAGÓN).

Basically, MEDIATION has to do with solving and dealing with problems we come up with in communication in our daily life. Generally speaking, when we are asked to mediate, we have to:

  • Summarise AND/ OR SELECT THE RIGHT INFORMATION
  • Simplify & CLARIFY
  • Adapt (TO THE CONTEXT / THE SITUATION / THE SPEAKER)
  • Paraphrase (USING DIFFERENT WORDS)

IN THE SCHOOLS OF THE VALENCIAN COMMUNITY STUDENTS ARE TOLD TO DO SO FROM ENGLISH INTO ENGLISH (INTRALINGUISTIC MEDIATION) Besides, mediation can be ORAL or WRITTEN

Final Tips (ACCORDING TO https://victoriassecretenglishblog.wordpress.com/)

  • Never copy phrases from the original text, but paraphrase.
  • Do not give your opinion unless asked; be as objective as you can; stick to the text / IMAGE / INFOGRAPHIC.
  • Respect the word / TIME limit.

RECOMENDACIONES FINALES (in Spanish)

  • IDENTIFICA LA INFORMACIÓN Y PALABRAS CLAVE
  • ADAPTA TU DISCURSO AL DESTINATARIO, FORMAL O INFORMAL
  • RESUME DE FORMA SENCILLA PARA FACILITAR LA COMPRENSION
  • USA TUS PROPIAS PALABRAS (NO REPITAS LAS DEL TEXTO ORIGINAL)
  • NO DES TU OPINIÓN, SIMPLEMENTE TRANSMITE LA INFORMACIÓN DE UNA FORMA OBJETIVA
  • RESPETA EL Nº DE PALABRAS (ESCRITA) O EL TIEMPO DE REALIZACIÓN (ORAL)
  • LO QUE MÁS SE VALORA ES LA REALIZACIÓN DE LA TAREA, ES DECIR, SI HAS CONSEGUIDO TRANSMITIR LA INFORMACION SOLICITADA  Y EN MENOR MEDIDA LA CALIDAD DE LA LENGUA
